Self-Portrait of an artist

Artist Nancy Katz wrote on FB:

"Frost. Not happy. Too soon."

I respond:

My fondest fun, winter indoor memory as a child is putting my nose and mouth on my frosty upstairs bedroom window and feeling, watching as first my face stuck to the window, and then the warmth splintered and dissolved the frost leaving my facial imprint.

Wish I'd photographed that scene through the window.

Never too 'old' to play!

I still put my face (and hand) on a surface to see the fascinating imprint. On a bed of nails.

Here's today's non-frosty face, and left hand on nails. No glue needed. :)

Lisa & Joy, Lotus Festival

I'm so excited that I just rediscovered this photo.

I drove my dear pal Lisa downtown to Echo park one Sunday about 5-7 years ago when she spontaneously said that she wanted to take a drive. I'd never been to Echo Park so we went. Lotus Festival was happening. (About 3 years ago I read that ALL the lotuses disappeared and no one knew how or why.) Lisa was amazed that I got a great parking space by driving down a 'closed' street. The same day we took a little bus tour of the neighborhood, up and down the hills. I managed to get Lisa onto the first bus, and there was a waiting list so we had a coup. We both loved the tour and had a great time, as always.

Lisa died 3 years ago, the week she turned 90. I cried like crazy.

Together we spent most days of 25 years, walking, talking, swimming, learning.

Friendship is 52 years young with Sheila. Spouse treated us to the yummie dessert

after we ate (I treated) at a Gypsy restaurant, and didn't smoke their hookahs.

Choose your chocolate chip cookies: macadamia nut, walnut, peanut butter, etc.

and the ice cream for inside.

Yum, mine is Butter Pecan, an old favorite and 1/2 the $ of my neighborhood cookie.

Fun to go back to Cunningham Park, Queens, NY playground 2 summers ago,
and find the same swing I joyously swung on more than half a century ago.

In Singapore, 1991, I found this JOY t-shirt signed by Mirapolsky, hanging high in a shop.

Upon my return home to LA, Mirapolsky had an art exhibition.

I brought t-shirt with me. Mirapolsky was happy to see t-shirt and wanted to purchase it from me.

He explained to me that the design for a Japanese singing star music album cover

was used without his permission.

Mirapolsky gave me his famous logo button, "Fear No Art".
